Australian Islamic College Traffic Trial

We will be running a 12 week trial aimed at making school drop‑off and pick‑up around the Australian Islamic College in Kewdale safer and less congested.

Community feedback and traffic monitoring have highlighted ongoing issues including long vehicle queues, illegal parking, and unsafe conditions for both drivers and pedestrians.

To help address these concerns, the trial will introduce new parking restrictions and new no right turn movements at key locations along President Street, Rosina Street and Orrong Place. These changes are designed to improve traffic flow, reduce queuing, and enhance safety for all road users.

This trial will have two stages and will take place from early March 2026 onwards.

The trial will include:

  • Stage 1

    • Installation of new parking restriction signage along Rosina Street, President Street and Orrong Place in early March 2026.
    • The restrictions will ensure safety of all pedestrians and easy flow of vehicle movements during school times to the pick-up and drop-off zone access from Rosina Street.
    • Vehicle parking will be allocated within the school and off Orrong Place, Briggs Street, Hillcrest Road and Prichard Street.
  • Stage 2

    • Introduction of no right turn into Rosina Street and Australian Islamic College Gate 4 from President Street.
    • Introduction of no right turn out from Rosina Street onto President Street.
    • Installation of temporary traffic lane dividers with bollards.
  • Stage 3

    • The outcomes of Stages 1 and 2 will be reviewed to determine whether the arrangement should be extended or made permanent.
    • Subject to the study findings, additional traffic management measures may also be considered.
