Bringing new life to Newey Street Reserve

We’re enhancing the Newey Street Reserve into a shared community reserve with landscaping, amenities, and gardens.


What will the Newey Street Reserve look like?

The site enhancement will include installation of a limestone pathway around the sinkhole area, park benches, log steppers and planting of native tubestock, shrubs and trees.

The stormwater infrastructure and fencing around the central sinkhole will remain. Trees and low planting will be added to the sinkhole to help integrate it with the rest of the reserve.

Inviting local residents to be involved

We reached out to surrounding residents in January 2025 and inviting them to express their interest in being involved in the project.

This included interest in community planting days, or ongoing maintenance of the shared garden with watering, planting and weeding activities.

This feedback will help us understand what resources are needed for the initial landscaping and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of the site.
