We're developing a new Urban Forest Strategy to support a greener City of Belmont

Trees and canopy cover are vital to a thriving city, offering essential benefits such as cooling urban areas, providing shade, improving air quality, managing stormwater, and supporting local wildlife habitats.

The new Urban Forest Strategy is being developed to retain and enhance these green assets through a best practice framework for policy, management practices and future planning.

    Community feedback and ideas

    The public is invited to provide feedback on key urban forest initiatives and share their ideas to help shape the draft Urban Forest Strategy.

    The community survey is open from Monday 29 April to Friday 24 May.

    Development of Urban Forest Strategy

    Results from consultation with key stakeholders and community feedback is reviewed and integrated into the Draft Urban Forest Strategy.

    Council endorsement of Urban Forest Strategy

    The Urban Forest Strategy 2025-2030 will attend the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 24 June with a recommendation for endorsement

    Following endorsement by Council, the strategy document will be designed and released.
