Increased Canopy Coverage around our Playgrounds

We've received funding through the State Government and WALGA's Urban Greening Grant Program to plant additional trees around playgrounds across the City.

This project will see 240 new trees planted across 30 playgrounds located in areas with higher urban heat or are used by more vulnerable groups.

The project is focusing on smaller neighborhood parks that are less likely to have existing tree cover and will bring the most benefit to local residents and surrounding households.

The Urban Greening Grant Program

The Urban Greening Grant Program was created to expand tree canopy and vegetative cover in high urban heat risk areas in 33 Local Governments within the Boorloo (Perth) and Bindjareb (Peel) regions.

Funded by the State Government Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) and delivered collaboratively with WALGA, the program provides a total of $3.75 million (ex GST) to support additional planting in 2024 and 2025.
