Improved lighting for sporting clubs and community users

We're upgrading the sports lighting and floodlights at Peet Park to improve the experience for local clubs and the wider community.

The upgraded infrastructure will bring lighting of the AFL oval in line with Australian Club Competition standards, providing better conditions for training and game play.

The new sporting floodlights will also provide increased visibility for cricket, in line with Class VI of Cricket Australia's guidelines for outdoor cricket lighting.

The Peet Park Lighting Upgrades project has been jointly funded by the Australian Government, WA Government and City of Belmont.

The lighting infrastructure upgrades include:

Project stages

    Stakeholder consultation and engagement

The Project team engaged with sporting clubs, key user groups and State sporting bodies to assess the current and future needs of lighting infrastructure.

Feedback gathered through the stakeholder engagement process and site assessment is used to inform a lighting design.

  • Timeline item 3 - active

    Tender for works

Upon completion of the detailed design documentation and consultation with sporting clubs, a tender for works is advertised to market.

Following assessment of submissions, the recommendation will attend an Ordinary Council Meeting to be awarded.

Works and installation of the lighting upgrades will be scheduled around sporting seasons to minimise the impact on sporting clubs.

Following installation the lighting will be tested to ensure it meets the needs of site-users and the broader community
