We are seeking feedback from residents located within close proximity of Selby Park, to assess the level of support for an enclosed dog exercise area being located within Selby Park.

In 2021 the City of Belmont asked our community whether they supported the creation of a designated dog park within the City. A designated dog park is an exclusive fenced area providing agility equipment and amenities for dogs to be exercised off lead. 87% of responders strongly supported a dog park within the City.

Several sites were considered as preferred locations with Selby Park being one of them. Creating an enclosed fenced dog exercise area at Selby Park will consume approx. 40% of the passive recreational area and require additional infrastructure such as agility equipment, fencing and gates, water bowls, seating, advanced shade trees, bins, toilets and parking. This additional infrastructure is a significant investment of capital funds.
