What is a Strategic Community Plan?
Strategic Community Plans set out Council’s plan to guide the future of Belmont, prepared in collaboration with our community. It is a plan for action on how we will deliver our shared vision for the future.
The Strategic Community Plan sets the long-term direction and focus for Council’s planning, budget and resource allocation process. It also describes how Council priorities and strategies will be managed, and the services, programs and projects to be delivered.
The City of Belmont spoke to the community extensively to understand their priorities, needs and aspirations. Its clear that the community is passionate about Belmont and wants to build on the strengths of our community to create a liveable, productive and sustainable future.
The Strategic Community Plan was approved by Council at the April 2020 Ordinary Council Meeting.

Corporate Business Plan
The Corporate Business Plan is an important part of the City's Integrated Planning and Reporting (IPR) Framework and guides the implementation of the Strategic Community Plan. The Corporate Business Plan translates the aspirations and strategies of the Strategic Community Plan into operational priorities and indicates how they will be resourced over a four year period, and articulates how the Strategic Community Plan will be delivered through services, capital works, projects and activities.
2024 Review Working Group
We’re looking for local residents, workers, and businesspeople who are interested in shaping the future of the City of Belmont, as part of the review of our Strategic Community Plan 2020 to 2040.
We’re putting together a working group to help us understand our community’s priorities and values. No experience is needed and every voice counts towards creating a lasting impact on the City.
The working group will create and review the Strategic Community Plan, which influences the City of Bemont’s operational direction. The workshops will include discussion surrounding new ideas, new solutions and reviewed priorities.
Workshops were held in the Function Room at the City of Belmont Civic Centre on:
- Monday, 12 February, 6pm to 8pm, and
- Thursday, 15 February, 9am to 11am
