The Redcliffe Area Traffic Study has identified a range of short‑term actions to improve traffic safety and movement across the area.

These short‑term recommendations focus on improvements that can be delivered between 2025 to 2032, while longer‑term changes to airport operations and the regional road network continue to be planned.

The short‑term recommendations will be delivered in stages to carefully manage access and minimise impacts on local residents.

  • Road treatments

    A range of treatments on Stanton Road and Second Street.

  • Reduce speed

    Investigate applying a 40km speed limit on the local road network, with associated traffic calming.

  • Investigate

    Investigate safety concerns and appropriate treatments at a range of intersections.

  • Advocate

    Advocate for speed compliance controls, work with Main Roads on truck movement restrictions and advocate the Public Transport Authority on bus movements.


Stage one works

Stanton Road

Planned improvements include raised platforms at Moreing Street and Lyall Street to help slow vehicle speeds.

Works will begin at these locations as existing lighting infrastructure is already in place, commencing on Monday 13 April 2026.

Bulong Avenue and First Street

We're improving safety on Bulong Avenue and First Street with traffic calming measures.

Stage two works

The following recommendations will be addressed in FY26/27:

  • Raised platform and roundabout at Morrison Street and Stanton Road
  • Left in left out treatment at Lyall Street and Stanton Road as a trial.

To complement these works, upgrades to the lighting infrastructure will be undertaken in collaboration with Western Power.


Stage three and beyond

Once works for the first two stages are complete, we will move to implement the following recommendations:

  • Stanton Road and Second Street treatments:
    • Pedestrian crossing west of Lyall Street.
    • Children crossing west of Morrison Street.
    • Children crossing east of Kanowna Avenue.
    • Reducing the speed limit for the section between Epsom Avenue and Central Avenue
    • Stanton Road and Second Street to 40 km speed limit.
  • Investigate proposal of applying 40km speed limit on Redcliffe local road network, with associated traffic calming modifications.
  • Investigate safety concerns and appropriate treatments at the following intersections:
    • Victoria Street and Moreing Street
    • Epsom Avenue, Durban Street and Stanton Road
    • Redcliffe Road and Fauntleroy Avenue
    • Epsom Avenue and Victoria Avenue
    • Second Street and Kanowna Avenue
    • Morrison Street, Treffone Street and Ryans Court
  • Advocate for speed compliance controls, work with Main Roads on truck movement restrictions and advocate the Public Transport Authority on bus movements.
