New public art project coming soon

The Wright Street entrance of Belmont Hub will be home to a new public artwork that weaves art into the built landscape and recognises the connection to country for local Aboriginal people.

Award winning artist Yondee Shane Hansen’s design provides a unique addition to the City’s public art collection to emphasise the importance of indigenous identity and presence in the City of Belmont.

The artwork will connect Wright Street and Belmont Hub with an Acknowledgement of Country artwork based on the Noongar six seasons. The artwork will provide a respectful and welcoming statement for everyone entering the space.

The first phase of the artwork to be installed in April 2024 will include a stencilled design on the access ramp near the Wright Street bus stop and a sculptural element installed in the concrete planter outside Belmont Hub.
